Retreatment asks clinicians to remove existing obturation material while navigating uncertain canal anatomy and preserving natural tooth structure. Kerr Dental has launched ZenFlex™ RT, a rotary file system for endodontists and general practitioners who perform retreatment.
The four-file sequence is intended to move from removing previously placed material to reshaping the canal. Kerr says groove markings show the recommended order of use. The company's product announcement says the system is available through Kerr Dental and authorized dental dealers.
Design features for canal control
ZenFlex™ RT has a minimally invasive shaping profile and a maximum flute diameter of 1.0 mm. Kerr says its proprietary heat treatment increases file flexibility. The non-cutting tip is designed to help clinicians negotiate the canal during material removal.
Variable helical angles and variable-pitch flute geometry are intended to reduce screw-in tendency and self-threading while supporting smooth advancement and tactile control. Kerr says the design balances cutting efficiency with preservation. The announcement provides no comparative clinical outcome data.
A set sequence for retreatment
Kerr says the four-file progression can reduce the need to switch between rotary systems or assemble an individual retreatment protocol. Groove markings indicate the recommended order, while ISO-standard color coding identifies file sizes.
Kerr identifies Dr. Philippe Sleiman as a paid consultant and says his opinions and techniques reflect his experience. The company says it manufactures medical devices and does not dispense medical advice. It advises clinicians to use their own professional judgment when treating patients.
Technique resources, the recommended sequence and ordering information are available on Kerr Dental's ZenFlex RT page.
