Endodontic Retreatment 1 article

Endodontic Retreatment revisits a previously root-filled tooth when persistent or recurrent disease suggests that the original treatment has not achieved a stable result. Missed anatomy, inadequate disinfection or obturation, coronal leakage, separated instruments, posts and perforations can complicate access and prognosis. Planning weighs non-surgical retreatment against surgery, extraction and restoration of the tooth after treatment. The subject is management of failed or compromised prior endodontic therapy, not primary root canal treatment.
