Social determinants of health
5 articles
Social determinants of health are the social and economic conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age, and which influence opportunities for health. In dentistry, income, education, housing, employment, food environments, transport and social support can shape disease exposure, self-care and access to treatment. The concept moves analysis beyond individual behaviour by showing how structural conditions produce patterned oral-health inequalities, while specific pathways and effects vary between populations and health systems.
