Tooth wear 3 articles

Tooth wear is non-carious loss of enamel and dentin produced by mechanical and chemical processes over time. Attrition, abrasion and erosion may act separately or together, creating changes in contour, shortened crowns, cupping, exposed dentin or sensitivity depending on the pattern and severity. Assessment links clinical appearance with diet, habits, occlusion and medical history. Tooth wear is therefore a broad descriptive condition, with dental erosion representing only one of its possible mechanisms.
