At government schools in Doha, nine dental teams visit primary-school pupils on an approved schedule. The visits take preventive dental care beyond clinic walls.
The programme is managed by the Oral Health Promotion and Prevention Department at Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC). It combines school screening with prevention, health education and early intervention. Children can access oral health services where they spend much of their time.

PHCC can now share the programme with healthcare organisations in the region and abroad. Al Sharq reported on 29 September 2026 that the programme had also been formally included in the HSO library. That gives the recognition a wider international reach.
Dr. Hamad Al Mudahka, Executive Director of the Preventative Health Directorate at PHCC, said the decision reflects the corporation's commitment to innovative and evidence-informed preventive programmes. He described the library inclusion as recognition of the programme's quality, sustainability and scalability.
Health Standards Organization is a Canadian nonprofit organisation specialising in healthcare and social-service quality standards, placing the recognition within a professional standards framework.
Screening alone does not create lasting prevention. The Asnani model connects the identification of oral health needs with education and early action. Families and schools remain part of the care pathway. PHCC requires parental consent through forms distributed by schools before treatment or other intervention is provided.
Prevention remains central to children's oral health. As earlier reporting has shown, failures in prevention can place avoidable pressure on healthcare services. School-based intervention offers a practical public-health tool.
Al Yafei said the achievement would support further development and expansion of the programme's impact. The initiative also offers lectures for teachers and administrative staff through the Oral Health Ambassadors programme. More people can take part.
Recognition alone does not improve a child's oral health. The value lies in the operating model now being documented and shared. Asnani brings screening, prevention, education and stakeholder involvement into schools. That puts preventive dentistry closer to children before disease demands more intensive care.
