Panoramic radiograph 1 article

A panoramic radiograph is an extraoral X-ray image that displays both jaws, the dentition and surrounding structures in a single broad projection. It is useful for an overall view of tooth development, impacted teeth, third molars, gross jaw pathology and selected surgical or orthodontic questions. The technique trades fine intraoral detail for anatomical coverage and is subject to magnification and positioning artefacts. It therefore does not replace bitewing or periapical radiographs when high-resolution assessment of specific teeth is required.
