Gingiva 3 articles

Gingiva is the oral soft tissue surrounding the cervical portions of teeth and covering the alveolar processes. It includes free and attached tissue, the interdental papilla and the gingival sulcus, forming the visible soft-tissue component of the periodontium. Colour, contour, bleeding and attachment relationships are assessed during periodontal examination. This tissue is distinct from the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone, although all three participate in tooth support and periodontal health.
