Altered taste 1 article

Within its product category, Altered taste is a change in normal flavour perception, often described as reduced, distorted or otherwise different taste. Persistence, associated sensory changes and impact on eating help determine whether medical or dental referral is needed. The symptom is broader than a metallic taste, which is one specific form of dysgeusia; dental assessment considers oral dryness, infection, medications, recent illness and local oral conditions alongside broader neurologic or systemic causes.
