PTFE Floss is a smooth dental floss made from polytetrafluoroethylene, usually as a monofilament or tape-like strand designed to pass with low friction through tight contacts. The material resists shredding and does not rely on a wax coating to create a slick surface, although product construction varies. It is used with the same basic technique as other floss: the strand is adapted against proximal tooth surfaces and moved through the contact area.
