Clinical governance is the framework through which a healthcare organization maintains and improves the quality and safety of care while making clinical responsibilities accountable. In dentistry this can include audit, incident review, staff training, evidence-based protocols, infection control, risk management and systems for learning from complaints or adverse events. It is broader than individual clinician competence because it addresses how the practice or service organizes, monitors and improves care across the whole system.
