Rick Hansen will oversee five post-sales functions at Curve Dental: Customer Success, Support, Implementation, Training and Account Management. The company created the chief customer officer role as it prepares to work with larger and more complex dental organizations.
Curve Dental has an operational base in Calgary, Canada, according to a company service-desk listing. The location provides additional context for the company's Canadian corporate presence and support hiring.
Curve supports more than 6,000 dental practice locations across North America. That is the scale.
Hansen's job is to close the gaps customers face during onboarding and daily use. Curve says implementation and training should connect directly with support and account management. They should not feel like separate stages.
The company also plans to use AI and automation for routine support. Human specialists will remain available for difficult workflow and adoption problems.
A Canadian federal corporate-record profile confirms the existence of a related corporate structure, although the available record does not disclose operational details about Hansen's appointment. That distinction matters: the registry independently supports Curve's corporate presence, while the leadership scope comes from the company's industry announcement.
Hansen will work with Kristen Smith, Curve's vice president of customer success and a 17-year company veteran, to build the new structure. "Customer experience shouldn't feel like a series of handoffs," Hansen said. "It should feel like one team from the first implementation conversation through every stage of the customer relationship."
The business case is direct. Faster implementation can reduce the time before a practice gets value from the platform. Better training and continued adoption can help customers use more of its features and stay with the company.
The same issue appears in an earlier breakdown of technology adoption. Confidence and practical support affect how well dental teams use new tools.
Hansen has more than 15 years of experience building post-sales organizations across SaaS, dental, healthcare and other technology markets. At Weave, he held senior customer leadership roles in Customer Success Management, Training, Implementation and Customer Support. He also helped guide the communications and payments software company through its 2021 initial public offering.
Before Weave, Hansen spent more than seven years at Instructure. He eventually led a global organization that covered Customer Success, Implementation, Training and Support. His work there included expansion across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
At Curve, Hansen will bring customer feedback and experience data into product and operational decisions. That changes how the company can respond to problems.
Curve already offers 24/7 access to U.S.-based support staffed by Curve-trained personnel. Customers can also use self-service resources and Ask CurveAI for routine product questions.
Cormack said, "Technology should never become a wall between us and the customer," adding that Hansen must make the company faster through technology and more valuable through its people.
Curve recently announced a $200 million research and development commitment. Implementation and adoption now sit closer to the product's competitive value than to a separate service function.
That matters in vertical SaaS. When software runs a practice's daily operations, customer operations become part of the platform itself.
