In dental practice, Bleeding gums denotes gingival bleeding noticed during brushing, interdental cleaning, probing or sometimes spontaneously. It commonly accompanies inflamed gingival tissues and is recorded during periodontal assessment because bleeding sites can reflect current soft-tissue inflammation. Distribution, plaque levels, medications and other clinical findings determine its significance, while the finding is not synonymous with periodontitis and does not by itself establish attachment or bone loss.
