Sedation Dentistry 1 article

Sedation Dentistry uses conscious-sedation techniques to help selected patients undergo dental care while maintaining an appropriate level of responsiveness and safety. Patient assessment, indication, drug or inhalation method, monitoring, airway considerations, consent, recovery and discharge requirements all need to be matched to the technique and local standards. Sedation may support anxiety management or facilitate treatment but does not replace local anaesthesia or behavioural care. The remit is conscious-sedation practice and patient selection, with general anaesthesia treated as a different level of care.
