AI-assisted output is not treated as evidence or as a substitute for human judgment about clinical claims, source reliability, editorial framing or factual accuracy.
Current AI Use
The Young Dentist does not currently use AI to generate or publish news reporting, clinical articles, reviews, translations, source summaries or editorial conclusions.
Human Responsibility
Human editors remain responsible for selecting topics, evaluating sources, interpreting evidence, distinguishing evidence from opinion and marketing, reviewing factual statements, deciding whether claims are sufficiently supported, determining framing and headlines, approving publication and correcting or updating published material.
AI and Fact-Checking
AI-generated output is not considered evidence. Important claims should be checked against appropriate primary or authoritative sources.

AI-Generated Images
AI-generated and AI-assisted images may be used as illustrations for editorial concepts, abstract dental or healthcare topics, generic visual themes and non-documentary article artwork.
They should not be presented as documentary photographs of real news events, actual patients, real clinical cases, real people in situations that did not occur or actual diagnostic findings where the image is synthetic.
Where the synthetic nature of an image could materially affect interpretation, it should be identified as AI-generated, AI-assisted or illustrative.
No Automated Editorial Authority
An AI system does not independently decide what constitutes sufficient evidence, whether a clinical claim is safe to publish, whether a source is sufficiently reliable, how uncertainty should be represented, whether a correction is required or whether an article should be published.
Commercial Material and Future Changes
The same anti-fabrication standards apply if AI-generated visual material is used in advertising or any future sponsored format.
If The Young Dentist materially changes how AI is used, this policy should be updated to reflect actual practice.
