Thomas Graydon graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2014. After graduating he moved to Bunbury, two hours south of Perth, to work as an associate dentist in a private practice.
Daniel is a first year longitudinal foundation dentist qualified from Newcastle University in 2014 and is currently working between York hospital and general dental practice.
Adele graduated from Newcastle University in 2013 and has been working in general practice ever since. I have written this article to try and give an insight into my experience of working for a dental corporate, which can often be given a bad name.
Claire has written this article to share her experience of surgical extractions during her dental foundation training. She hopes that this will provide advice for newly qualified dentists when undertaking surgical extractions.
Megan graduated from King's College London (GKT) in 2012. Since then she has worked in private and NHS practices in Essex. Megan is currently the young dentist representative for the Essex local BDA.
Nikki Patel graduated from Kings College London in 2010. Having completed her foundation training year within the Oxford Deanery, she then spent two years as an associate in general dental practice. Following this she decided to gain secondary care experience working as a dental core trainee in oral and maxillofacial surgery, before securing a post as a community dental officer.
Rosie studied at the University of Sheffield and qualified in 2011. “Having been qualified for over three years, I’ve worked in five different practices, along with many older dentists. I’m always interested to see how other dentists work, and what works for them.” “I have written this article to share the different techniques and approaches used by dentists trained at different times.”
James Chesterman graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2011 and is currently working part time at the Leeds Dental Institute as a specialty dentist in the restorative department and an associate at Ivory Dental Practice in Leeds.
After her foundation year Charlotte Leigh applied for a DF2 post in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Charlotte says "I am thoroughly enjoying this post and learning and developing new skills." "Starting in August was quite daunting because the hospital environment is very different from the foundation practice and dental school."
Unprofessional is not a word you would use to describe me. I used to pride myself on that at university. So being called unprofessional by hospital consultants not just once but on three separate occasions within my first months of graduating started to ring alarm bells!
